About the artist

Madison Wehner is an Indiana-based contemporary artist known for her vibrant use of color, bold mark-making, and abstract worlds she creates for others to step into. Through symbols and layered imagery, Wehner explores the ways in which we relate to the world around us, and the unseen connections that shape our inner lives. Her work is rooted in a belief that art can heal parts of ourselves, often in life-altering ways.

Wehner’s relationship with art began in childhood alongside her grandmother, who taught her the foundations of oil painting through landscapes. She learned early on that creating art allowed her to share parts of her mind that felt hidden, and connect with others by communicating visually.

Wehner pursued her studies briefly at Herron School of Art & Design before deciding on an alternative route to mastering her craft. She later completed the Mastery Program with Milan Art Institute, graduating in 2023.

Working from her studio in Indiana, Wehner creates through an intuitive, layered process. Her paintings may begin with acrylic, spray paint, collage, or charcoal before evolving through layers of oil paint. The resulting works are vibrant, textural, and often unexpected… an explosion of color grounded in recognizable forms. For her, painting is a way of moving through life. Each work carries a message, though it’s not always clear from the beginning. Animals, in particular, hold a significant place within her practice. Drawn to their energy and symbolism, Wehner views them as harbingers, carrying wisdom from another realm.

At the heart of her practice is a belief that art can change lives. Wehner considers artists (of all mediums) conduits: vessels through which something larger can move. While her work is undeniably personal, she does not believe it comes entirely from her. Her process is intuitive, guided by a desire to remain connected to spirit and to trust what reveals itself through creation.
